CYBER BULLYING

        Bullying has been an arising issue for many years, but the idea of cyberbullying is a more recent issue that has appeared to  many teachers and schools. It's no secret that many students are on some platform of social media, whether it's Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. 

        Cyberbullying happens when students bully each other through the use of technology. Cyberbullying has the exact same effect of hurting the bully, as traditional bullying. The only catch with cyberbullying is that it can be anonymous, and the bully can at times escape consequences. 

     Cyberbullying can be used as a continuous form of bullying outside of the school grounds. One moment the cyberbully, the next they can turn into the victim, technology and social media can be a dangerous place to hide. 

       According to stop bullying, students who are cyber bullied are more likely use alcohol and drugs, skip school, experience in-school bullying, be unwilling to attend school, receive poor grades, have lower self esteem and have more health problems.

     We have to be aware of what is happening on social media, we need to be able to fight the bullying what is occurring and make students feel safe. There are many stories dealing with whether or not schools can be involved with what is going on in social media, but at the end of the day cyberbullying is in fact bullying. Unfortunately many cases of cyberbullying that have been documented, the victim of the bullying has committed suicide. Cyberbullying is a huge concern and it needs to be addressed. There are many ways of doing so, and the first step is standing up or others and spreading the tragedies of cyberbullying.
